Transition to NAF 2025
Since 1 January 2026, the French classification of activities - NAF 2025 - has been applied in the Principality of Monaco, replacing NAF 2008.
As a result, Monaco Statistics has updated the NAF codes and Statistical Identification Numbers (NISs) for all establishments in the Principality.
Monaco Statistics has shared the new NISs with the various relevant Departments of the Prince's Government and with the Caisses Sociales de Monaco. This change is transparent for businesses, which do not need to take any action with these entities.
Monaco Statistics is also taking advantage of this new classification system to adapt its major economic sectors (MESs). There are three major changes to note:
- “Professional, scientific and technical activities” and “Administrative and support service activities” has become two distinct MESs;
- “Arts, sports and recreation”, previously included in “Other service activities”, has become an MES of its own;
- The names of several MES have been updated.
Following these revisions, there are now fourteen MESs. This new structure provides a more accurate representation of the Principality's economy, while ensuring a more balanced distribution of the main economic aggregates.
